Associate Dean for Research elected Head of Religion, Australian Academy of the Humanities
Professor Wendy Mayer has just been elected Head of Religion of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.
The Academy is the national body for the humanities in Australia, championing the contribution humanities, arts and culture make to national life. It aims to ensure ethical, historical and cultural perspectives and inform discussions regarding Australia’s future challenges and opportunities. Religion is just one of 11 areas of expertise covered in the humanities.
In this new role, which she will undertake in addition to her regular duties at ALC, Professor Mayer will act as the conduit between the discipline area in Australia and the Academy Council and Secretariat and will provide advice in the formulation of policy responses to the government.
