Augsburg Confession focus of international webinar

Equipping people for service in the church and the world and maintaining an intentional international role, including partnerships with international theological institutions and international students, is an important ALC strategic objective and is clearly identified as such in our Strategic Direction 2017-2022.

Earlier this week, ALC lecturers Dr Andrew Pfeiffer and Dr Stephen Pietsch were involved in presenting a webinar on the Augsburg Confession to students at the Lutheran Study Centre at Sabah Theological Seminary (STS), Malaysia. (ALC has had a long relationship with STS which dates back to when Dr Vic Pfitzner was principal and played an instrumental part in successfully negotiating the establishment of the Study Centre in 2012.)

The webinar, which was organised with the support of the LCA’s International Mission, was open to all Lutheran congregations, pastors and church leaders in Indonesia and was attended by almost 100 participants from various parts of the world.

Moderator Rev Dr Wilfred Samuel reported, ‘The response from the webinar was extremely positive as it touched on practical issues related to faith, Word, worship and mission. The historical overview helped the young believers to understand and appreciate the context and struggles connected with the Augsburg Confession.’
