Education graduates in demand
In 2019 graduate teachers from Australian Lutheran College have happily followed in the footsteps of their predecessors from Lutheran Teachers College and taken up positions in various metropolitan and country centres everywhere from Bundaberg to Port Lincoln. It is always a joy to ALC staff when we can help resource Lutheran schools with young Christian teachers.
ALC does not offer a full teacher training program, but works with universities around Australia to assist students to embed a Christian Studies teaching minor into their initial teacher qualification. Since Christian Studies is a compulsory subject for all students in Lutheran schools, the schools value graduates who arrive with a skill set in this area and an enhanced insight into the core nature of Lutheran schools.
It is not at all unusual to find these same teachers moving into positions of additional responsibility within schools fairly early in their careers. ALC commonly works with them again when they return as postgraduate students to complete a Master of Education and Theology or a Graduate Certificate in Leadership.
Do you know someone who is currently studying or is about to commence studying a teaching degree and hopes to find employment in the Lutheran School system? For more information on the Lutheran Strand program contact ALC on free call 1800 625 193 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
