Honorary Postdoctoral Research appointment

Dr Pam Zweck has recently been awarded the status of Honorary Postdoctoral Research Associate for ALC by the University of Divinity.

Pam completed her doctoral studies at the end of 2023, through ALC University of Divinity, and graduated with a PhD in March 2024.

Her thesis on Lucas Cranach the Elder includes the three disciplines of church history, theology and art. She argues that Cranach’s images are rhetorical artefacts that speak the teaching of Martin Luther and therefore Cranach should be considered a theologian of the Wittenberg Reformation.  Her research has been assessed as a “major contribution in the field of Reformation studies,” and her emphasis on rhetorical seeing and hearing as “compelling” and able to open doors for future research.

As part of her postdoctoral research, Pam has a book with Fortress Press, based on her thesis, planned for publication in 2026.  Her doctoral research has also led to further study in the area of Lucas Cranach and Albrecht Dürer and their relationship to the Reformation.

Pam’s watchword throughout her studies that continues to supports her is, 'I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.' (Phil 4:13)
