ALC Library - a resource for the whole Church

It’s a well-known fact that our pastors can access ALC’s library free of charge, but did you know that this also applies to teachers in Lutheran schools, congregational staff and those employed as lay workers within the LCANZ?

ALC’s library comprises approximately 94,000 books and 14,000 bound volumes of periodicals. It also subscribes to current periodicals—some of which are available online.

Not living close enough to visit? Not a problem. Books can be mailed out upon request. Return postage costs, however, do apply. Alternatively the library has a substantial eBook collection which is directly accessible through the library catalogue.

The collection is strong in the following subject areas: Biblical Studies (both Old and New Testament), Church History, Systematic Theology, Pastoral Theology, Liturgics and Education and is of research quality in the areas of New Testament, Luther Studies, and Reformation Theology, in particular Lutheran Confessional Theology. The Christian Studies collection supports both students preparing to teach Christian Studies in Lutheran schools and teachers in Lutheran schools. Significant also are holdings relating to the study of Education which have been built up in support of Masters courses.
