Rare books to benefit from Community Heritage Grant

ALC has been successful in its bid to win another federal Community Heritage Grant. The grant money will be used to purchase archival boxes to house some of the older and more fragile items in the Rare Books collection which is held in  ALC’s Library and which includes a Luther Bible from 1551 and an original edition of the Book of Concord from 1580. In 2019 a successful grant application funded a ‘significance assessment’ of the same collection.

ALC Library is among thousands of Australian historical societies, museums, galleries and archives since 1994, who have received grants to support, preserve and promote access to nationally significant collections. The Community Heritage Grants are funded by public money, and grant recipients are accountable to the National Library of Australia for the proper use of the funds provided to them.
