Vale Dr Rolph Mayer
The ALC community mourns the recent passing of emeritus lecturer, Dr Rolph Mayer, who died on Monday 31 August—just three months short of his 91st birthday.
Rolph taught from 1968 to 1995 in the areas of Education and Biblical Studies and was a foundation member, with Principal Elvin Janetzki, of the faculty of Lutheran Teachers College (LTC) at Highgate. He continued to teach at LTC when it moved to the campus of Luther Seminary (now ALC) in North Adelaide in 1990.
Rolph served as the LTC principal from 1970 to 1987. During these years, he helped to train a steady stream of teachers and other graduates who remember him with great affection. He retired from full-time teaching at the end of 1995, having served a record 28 years on the teaching staff.
Rolph’s funeral will be held at Immanuel College, Novar Gardens, on Saturday 5 September at 10.00 am. Due to current limitations on the number of attendees, the service will be live-streamed.
