ALC welcomes new lecturer
Rev Matthew Bishop has recently commenced as lecturer at ALC (0.5 FTE). His call forms part of the ALC Board’s succession planning strategy for the College.
Matthew, who also has a background in economics and public policy, has previously served as pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Morley in suburban Perth and more recently as pastor in Adelaide at St Paul Lutheran Church and primary school at Blair Athol.
His wider LCA involvement has included:
- serving as Acting Chair and Chair of General Pastors Conference (2022 and 2024)
- serving on the Council for Local Mission
- supervising two vicarage placements.
As a theological student preparing for pastoral ministry, Matthew excelled in his studies and in 2015 he received the University of Divinity Vice Chancellor’s award, which recognised the depth of his commitment to learning, the quality of his scholarship, the originality of his thinking and his desire to share his passion for knowledge and understanding with others.
In his first year at ALC, Matthew will be teaching one unit of study while undertaking doctoral studies with a Systematics focus. To partner his work at the College, he has also recently accepted a 0.5 FTE call to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Adelaide.
The ALC community extends a warm welcome to Matthew, his wife Melissa and their family.
