Latest LTJ Issue Released – Updates on Schedule and Submissions

We are pleased to announce the release of Lutheran Theological Journal Vol. 59, No. 1 (August 2025), and thank you for your patience during this significant season of change. Over the past year, the relocation of Australian Lutheran College—LTJ’s publishing institution—brought substantial disruption, particularly to editorial workflows and production timelines. In response, and in light of resource constraints and rising production costs, LTJ has adopted a twice-yearly publication schedule. This rhythm allows us to continue delivering the quality theological content our readers value, and makes the release of the current issue all the more meaningful, with the next edition already in development.

This issue includes a study of Luther’s engagement with the book of Sirach, an exploration of Eucharistic prayer in Lutheran worship, and reflections on the theology and practice of online worship and Communion. It also features reviews of both overlooked theological classics and a recent work on creation and sacred life.

LTJ remains committed to its mission of deep theological reflection grounded in a Lutheran confession of faith. We warmly invite book reviews as well as new submissions that explore Lutheran theology in all its dimensions—biblical, systematic, pastoral, liturgical, educational, and contextual, especially within the Asia-Pacific region. We are particularly eager to highlight and support the voices of women scholars and writers, and we welcome contributions from both seasoned and emerging authors.

Whether you're a long-time reader or new to LTJ, now is a great time to (re)subscribe and support theological dialogue within and beyond the Lutheran tradition. If you are interested in subscribing to LTJ, please see our website for more information.

Single issues of LTJ—including back and recent issues—are available for purchase at $20 per copy, subject to stock availability. To request a copy, contact LTJEditorialAssistant@alc.edu.au
