Opportunity to farewell the North Adelaide campus

For more than a century, ALC’s North Adelaide campus has been many things to many people: a place to worship, a place to study and engage in theology, a place to prepare for service, a place of employment, a home away from home and most importantly, a place where friendships have been formed and life-long relationships cemented.

Whether you were a student at Immanuel College North Adelaide (1923-1942), a student at Immanuel Seminary (1923-1967), a student at Luther Seminary (1968-2003), a student at Lutheran Teachers College (1968-2003), a student at the Lay Training Centre/Lutheran School of Theology (1990-2003) or a student at Australian Lutheran College, a boarder, a patron of the Lohe Memorial Library, a member of the Women’s Auxiliary or you worked at the Sem/College in a paid or voluntary capacity over the years, the deep connection you have with this campus, is something that we all share.

With only three months to go until ALC must vacate the property (vacant possession is required on 1 July), many of you have been asking for an opportunity to return for one final time, to look around and see what’s changed (or more likely, what’s not changed!) and to reminisce about days gone by.

On Saturday 3 May ALC will be hosting a Walk My Way event. Register here for the event: https://adelaide.alws75.org.au/. This will be the final formal/public event held on the North Adelaide campus and a great opportunity for you to come back to the site, while at the same time supporting a good cause - Australian Lutheran World Service.

On the day there will be a community hub consisting of food stalls, live stage performances, a garage sale and guided tours of select buildings including the boarding house. For those looking to secure a piece of memorabilia, plates and bowls bearing the Luther Seminary insignia will also be available for purchase at a small cost.

Come early on the day (from 8.30am) to collect your walking kit, enjoy a coffee and some breakfast from the food stalls before you set out on your walk. Be sure to join other walkers for a farewell photo in front of historic Hebart Hall, before walkers depart at 10.00am. Following the walk, spend some time looking around the campus, reminiscing and connecting with new and old friends.

Look forward to seeing you there!
