Vale Shaun Lancaster

The ALC community mourns the sudden passing of their colleague, Shaun Lancaster, who died on Tuesday, 24 June aged 60.

As ALC’s Director of Library Services over the past 10 years, Shaun was responsible for all library management and policy issues and ensuring the continued provision of efficient library services. He also served as a member of ALC’s Academic Committee and Chair of the University of Divinity’s Library Committee.

In addition to his work in the library, Shaun was a talented musician and an accomplished violinist whose outstanding performances at UD/ALC graduation ceremonies and many an ALC staff farewell, will long be remembered.

Over the past month, Shaun was instrumental in overseeing the move of the library collection from the North Adelaide campus into new premises at 22 Pultney Street, Adelaide. Despite the challenges involved in preparing and facilitating the move, Shaun was optimistic about the new venue and full of hope for the future of the library. None of us could have fathomed that he would not be part of that future - but God had other plans.

Please keep Shaun’s wife Karen and his extended family, and the ALC community, in your prayers at this sad time.

A memorial service will be held for Shaun this Wednesday, 2 July at 3:00pm at Saint Richards Anglican Church, 1 May Terrace, Brooklyn Park.
